Rutgers has a very strong natural recruiting base in NJ and I think everything coming out of COVID is really going to help them with people perhaps being gun shy about traveling etc over the next 3-5 years until things completely normalize again.

With 3 big ten wins Shady has NJ kids believing they can win with him there. Plus they ace recruiter Fran Brown. Just have him a raise to keep him there. I have to give shady props for now. Their recruiting class is outstanding but this trend won’t last after a couple years of mediocre seasons. Btw this Allen kid has one the the most mediocre films I’ve seen for a 4 star #1 player in NJ. Wasnt dominant. Lots a stalemates

The Dohn effect

Watch out for Rutgers moving forward for Shady will do whatever it takes to win and I think he is on target. Why can’t Dino get 4-star recruits and not one or two every few years?

Because Dino in not from NY and NY doesn’t have a quarter of the amount of top end prospects NJ has. Shady hired a good group of recruiters who are former head coaches in the NJ and Philly areas. Fran Brown is killin it. If we had him we would have a couple 4 stars from those areas as well. Shady has a great reputation in NJ. He’s always been a good recruiter. He’s an average coach. But he gets kids from their because he’s the only guy to make rutty respectable. Going 6-6 in the Big ten is like God to new jerseyans

I'm going to assume that he has picked up some other offers since CL's January post, given that he is "the top ranked player in NJ".

That's a poor assumption.

He may only be the "top rated player in NJ" - because the 2 RU shills working for the rankings services have deemed him so.

However - this kid had 30 offers, most P5.
So, that seems pretty legit in this case.

And, of course - there's always plenty o' time for him to de-commit from SUNJ between now and when he would supposedly arrive there.

The list of 4* guys who once were Rutty commits is long, but distinguished.

What do you mean? I didn’t mention anything about offers

I replied to your post out of expedience. Needed somewhere to butt in. Sorry for the confusion!

A quick question without looking to flame or get in return

I see Greg is referred to as shady, is there an incident or incidents you can point out that show him being out of line

Do you mean on field incidents? Like players diving at knees in victory formation?

Or do you mean off-field, recruiting stuff? Like wasting NJ tax payer dollars on helicopter rentals, or over-the-top negative recruiting, or having national recruiting writers inflate prospect ratings when they commit to RU?

No, in general people don't like him because he does a better job at recruiting than we do.

Not sure why you assume it’s just that. There’s people here that actually dealt with him in this forum. I’m not going to talk too much about coaching stuff but I will tell you that Marrone’s staff had a problem with him negative recruiting them. It got so bad that Bob Casullo mentioned it during a coaching clinic. That’s just one of many things he’s done to try to keep rutgers relevant.

As far as recruiting. I think he is a good recruiter but he has some shadiness about him. That’s one of the reasons why he’s good. How impressive is it really? He has an easier path. He doesn’t have to go outside the state of NJ to grab the core of his team. Cuse has to rely on convincing kids who have P5 offers to leave their state to come upstate NY. As far as rankings. NYS doesn’t have a good reputation of talent so services tend to ranked them low. NJ has a great reputation so they tend to rank kids high. Whatever NYS kid we add will not be favorably ranked. So rutgers classes will always be higher until we start winning again.

Per Rivals 2022 Recruiting Rankings

NY - 2 4 stars, 6 3 stars
NJ - 7 4 stars, 37 3 stars

I would hope he recruits better than Syracuse does. He could have 5-6 4 stars annually just recruiting well in the state of NJ. We will NEVER have that in the state of NY irrespective of how well we recruit. And he has the ability to dip into the south just like we do, even there probably has an easier sell due to direct flights and has an easier sell to Ohio/MI/IL than we do due to the Big 10 association.

The play you are referring to was an attempt to get to the qb, which actually succeeded and the qb fell backwards
If he would have fumbled it would have been a smart move when all looked lost...not so much diving at the knees, it was to reach the qb

The rest of the things you mention can be argued point by point, but not worth your time and effort

Good luck with your season

Question. Why are you on an su forum if you are not a fan?Based that on “Good luck with your season.”
Is there no information on your own team?
