PLANO, Texas – Learfield Sports announced today that it has entered an agreement to acquire SIDEARM Sports, one of the leading digital platforms serving over 700 collegiate athletic programs with customized web, social media, design and mobile content services.

“We are very excited about this acquisition,” said Greg Brown, President and CEO of Learfield. “The SIDEARM platform provides athletic departments with an incredibly nimble and user-friendly platform.”
SIDEARM was founded in 2001 by Jeff Rubin, who will continue to lead the business. SIDEARM has 60 employees and is based in Syracuse, NY. Learfield will not be making any employee changes and the terms of the transaction will remain confidential.

so even a syracuse compmay does a poor job or providing syracuse content on a web site.

Hopefully this leds to more jobs here.

Is your here in Texas? or in Syracuse?

I think youre a great poster - but would be pretty unhappy if the here you are talking about is at an expense of Syracuse jobs.

a. jeff rubin is a TERRIFIC guy.
b. sidearm doesnt provide content. SU provides the content.

thats not completely true. there are mulitple content issues. one is the lousy streaming quality Sidearm has consistently produced for years but has gotten better, two is what content they can stream which is not really their issue. three is the static content which is at a grade school level of what should be avilable

I like Jeff Rubin but Sidearm pissed me off a couple times when I reported Orange All-Access issues. I'm surprised by how many Universities they have covered now. When I was in school it was in the double digits. Biggest name besides Cuse I saw was Kansas which is pretty impressive..Any other big name schools?

I was at Syracuse Hancock International Airport typing that (about ready to board my 50 seat Jumbo Jet to JFK)...so "here" would be the "315"

Isn't Stretch actually based on the SU campus? I'm almost positive it at least started on campus, but it may have moved.

Ironically one of the chief competitors is a company called Presto Sports, with the former SID from LeMoyne having been one of the guys behind that company (he's no longer there, can't remember where he went...my college uses Presto, and he's the guy who first approached me about making the switch, I think in part because he saw I was an SU grad and knew he had an in there).

Sidearm's "headquarters" are in Hinds Hall
