Back in the day they used to have ticker tape parades for many different events. Besides certain famous and infamous sports heroes (like the 1962 Mets and one for Sammy Sosa), lots of parades went to pilots/astronauts and of course a myriad of war heroes and politicians.

Looking back at this list there were a few years that they had one almost every month. Some people, like Bobby Jones, Amelia Earhart and Wiley Post, got more than one parade.

Dean Martin never got a parade but Van Cliburn did.

I guess if you could nominate someone to have a parade in this current day who would it be? My nomination would be the Navy Seals Team Six who captured Bin Laden, but that is an easy one.

I thought of the Seal Team Six first as well.

I would also say the team from the Mars Curiosity Rover mission would be worth it. The things that machine is capable of is unbelievable.

Somebody owes the Yankees 18 parades.
yeah, no shlit huh.

they didnt get 1 for the 1st 18 World Series titles, or for 28 Pennants, then out of the blue in April of 61 (i guess before Opening Day?) they get 1. go figure. :noidea:

my 1st one was the Olympic 84 one, i still have the little Olympic Flag.

my favorite is Giants XLII, although just barely over the Rangers in 94.

that was 1 hell of day in 94...

Patrick Ewing vs the White Bronco. :D
yep.

and nationally the 1st day of the US hosted World Cup and Arnold Palmers last US Open.
