Long Island University has two separate campuses (Brooklyn and CW Post on Long Island). They announced that both schools will combine to compete as one athletic program. Some sports will be based in Brooklyn and some on LI. If you go to school on one campus but play at the other, transportation will be provided. Sounds like a big clusterfug to me.

Anyway the football program is upgrading to Division 1 FCS, so assuming they meet the scholarships requirements, it’s another team for SU to play and beat.

LIU Athletics

Wow, an instant rivalry with Stony Brook!

It's going to take a lot to straighten this out. Football is safe since Brooklyn doesn't have a team, same with both lacrosse teams. Everyone else? Good luck! LIU Brooklyn is already D-1 which requires X number of sports. Since CW Post is D-2 you would think that a bunch of their players in the sports that Brooklyn has will come out on the short end.

Brooklyn has women’s lacrosse - though not very good, it is/has been D1.

Terrible for student athletes at both schools - the baseball program at Brooklyn just went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in forever. Their reward? Let’s ship you off to Long Island to Post’s campus. Oh, and maybe your coach will stick around.

President of that school is an absolute joke.

I didn't know they had WLax. It has to be D-1 under the "D-1 for basketball, D-1 for everything" rule. That one was brought in by the D-3 schools to get Dayton out of D-3, BTW.

Looks like Long Island U, now known as the Sharks as of last month, are able to play FBS teams with a victory over them counting as one of the six you’d need to be bowl eligible.

The Sharks have scheduled games against Miami (OH) in ‘21 and Toledo in ‘22. I’d expect them to visit Syracuse before too long.

So while undergoing the transition will they be called "The Baby Sharks"?

I dig it

Blackbirds was apparently racist.

Propaganda — or a straight up lie from administration.

Alumni are not pleased, both LIU Post & Brooklyn.

President further alienates alums and likely looking to sell valuable property in Brooklyn.
