I don't blame Williams--he should hold out for a high major gig, not some third rate program.

And why would young Pitino garner consideration? Guy has had two NIT years at Minnesota with the squad he inherited. His recruiting is a big suspect / unproven. Not sure that resume screams "can't miss!"

I don't get the Pitino love at all either. I'm glad somebody agrees with me. He might turn out good but shouldn't be a candidate for every job opening at this point unless you're happy hiring a last name.

I live in Minneapolis, and here is the progression that a large segment of the U of M fanbase has gone through with little Pitino:

• Excitement! Big name, despite the limited experience, anything's better than Tubby Smith, his dad will help send recruits / transfers our way
• Damn, we lost out on Tyus Jones and those other two top 100 prospects from Minneapolis--but that's just ecause little Pitino didn't have enough time to convince 'em to stay home
• We're not winning as much as we'd like, but this is an exciting style of play
• Okay, we didn't make the NCAA, but we won the NIT--something to build on
• Okay, we aren't playing as well this year as I'd hoped, coming off of that "big" NIT championship
• Hmm... lots of players seem to be bailing, hope this isn't a problem
• This guy better be able to recruit, because otherwise...
• What--we lost out on Henry Ellenson to MARQUETTE????
• Awesome. We missed the NCAA again.
• What? We didn't even make the NIT???
• Where are all of the stud recruits this guy was supposed to bring in?
