At first the doctors sounded optimistic, but by the following morning I felt like the updates got more vague and their body language changed. I’m pretty sure they knew he was brain dead by that point. They continued to “try hard”, but I think they were more working on walking us towards accepting reality than in saving someone who was already effectively gone.
