Be glad you didn't live there back then because they used to not recognize daylight savings time so part of the year it would be on Eastern and part of the year on Central time. It was also different than those right across the border in Ohio for half the year. Very confusing to live right on the border of a time zone but even worse when one would change and the other not. They changed it a few years back so all good now.  Richmond is also home to a minor league baseball team, the Richmond River Rats.  Independent League at its finest.  My son is starting his freshman season of high school tennis. He's not great but he beat me for the first time a couple weeks ago (though I am one of those 290lb tennis players like you once were)!  Good luck! Make sure you make it down to a Reds game sometime, its only 1 1/2 hours away.
