OT: NC St gives Doeren 2 year ext @ 2.2m a year

guess that's what 3-9 to 8-5 gets you.

of the 8 wins; georgia southern, old dominion, Presbyterian, south florida, central florida. That's 5 of 8 wins and they barely beat us.

i wish we would adjust our schedule. If Shafer goes 8-5 next year he should get an extension to.

That's insane money for that program. Just another sign of the apocalypse.

I think it was his last 2 games. Destroying UNC in Chapel Hill and UCF was a nice bowl win for them.

I still think it's ridiculous to give a coach an extension after just 2 years, unless you know he's a hot name. Can't imagine Doeren is right now.

Oh well, not my money.

They did sign five four star recruits. I think they are pulling away from us but I hope I am wrong.

pulling away? really?

they beat us by a whopping 7 points and we were terrible. a game we statiscally won except the scoreboard. they had 13 first downs and 300 yards. We gifted them a bad 80 yard INT td return and had 3 other turnovers by our freshman.

4 recruits doesn't mean someone's pulling away. nc state has always recruited well. it helps when the state is full of talent.

Again, what do stars matter? Steven Clark should've been a 4 star, but wasn't. It doesn't mean he won't be a good player.

Inherits a program that was 29-22 the prior four years, with three straight bowl games, proceeds to go 11-14, and GETS an extension and a raise.

This is the genius level thinking around here in year four with a program that was 10-37 four years prior and was obviously much, much, better.

Not getting that done and letting it linger was a huge mistake. Who knows if things would have turned out any differently but it might have made a difference.

Please tell me you keep these threads in your favorites and don't go hunting for them each time.

Is this the chapter of the story where if we gave Marrone an extension earlier he would have stayed? This is going to be one long book when it comes out.

Marrone was offered everything he wanted and his contract had nothing to do with him leaving.

Did he have a signed contract extension or not?

And this offer was made when?

Is that what I said?

Marrone was at best a mediocre coach who got most of his wins because of very good defensive coordinators. He pissed off a lot of people along the way. That's reality and you need to deal with it. He wasn't a great coach

Yes?

Except replace "would" with "might have"?

In other words it's not what I said.

If I wanted to assert it would have made a difference, that is what I WOULD have written.

Pretty basic.

He didn't sign it. And again, his contract had zero to do with him leaving.

But it might have made a difference? So weird. And so not basic.

You never answered if you favorite all the Marrone links.

NC State gave Florida State a run for their money this year, thought they might beat them, too. How you look when you lose sometimes plays into these things.

That said, NC State is not beyond making a horrible move.

Marrone did a darn good job turning around the program and was a really great game planner.

But as he is the same genius who QUIT a head NFL position without a job and is now an OL coach, I'd bet "getting that done" for St. Doug would have mean lobbying for Pope-hood in the 315.

The guy is beyond full of himself beyond epic proportions. He's learning that lesson now and I bet he'll be better for it long term, but I'm not blistering Syracuse University leadership on this one.

You wrote it might have made a difference. How is that not asserting that it might have made a difference?!

My God, is it hard to type when you're so far up Marrone's butt?
