Is this too absurd to be true? A female golfer from a WCC school has been reported to the NCAA by her own school (!) for using university water to wash her car.

It's being ruled a secondary violation "because the water and hose were not available to regular students. [They've] requested the golfer to pay back $20, which was deemed to be the value of the water and use of the hose."

Not only is this a waste of time, effort and money, it sets a poor example for the student athletes that the NCAA claims to protect. One can only hope that this will help spur changes to the mockery that is the NCAA.

It's also a terrible estimate of the cost of water and equipment. I can get a full hand wash, including interior, and vacuuming for $7!

God help her if she'd used their sponge and chamois!

If all NCAA schools started doing this, maybe the system would change.

I'm just going to throw this out there - the hose and water are probably available to regular students.

Heard the SEC schools use extra soft double ply Charmin in the football dorms. Actually it reminds me of a company I worked for came out with a new expense policy and said car washes would not be reimbursed. Well the COO submitted a receipt for a car wash and expense payable turned him down. Obviously that meant for anyone but the senior mgnt. Talking about someone taking their job literally.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Good to see Oregon's punishment has been served.
