OT - Noel to miss entire season? To learn?

As a long time Sixers fan, old enough to remember the 9-73ers, I was hoping Noel could play 20-25 games this year. I keep repeating to myself. "they have a plan, they have a plan", but this is painful. I am very convcerned about how MCW will react to 70+ losses.

I don't think the Oden/Bowie comparison is correct, at least I hope not.

Curious to see this myself.

Could be some major meltdowns along the way.

wait...if they really wanted to tank they would PLAY Noel

I just think they now realize how bad his skills are

If only there were a place where young men could go and learn the game and maybe a little something about life and how to be men and better people as well. With people there to teach them and guide them through the process.

Coach Cal's Kentucky program offers none of those things.

Sure tank the season to get Wiggins in the draft. But with the NBA's idiotic ping pong ball lottery that frequently has the worst team picking 4th, it's a big gamble.

Another worry for Philly is even if they accomplish their tanking mission, they have to sweat out the possibility of a rigged lottery if Boston and/or the LA Lakers are in there.

I cannot wait to see Wiggins play. He is an exciting prospect. An incredible athlete with some skills. However, I don't see him as the next Lebron James. Lebron is a 6'8 beast with guard skills and center strength. He is fast, agile, has a high basketball IQ and he is absolutely driven to be the best that has ever played the game. Wiggins is a great athlete with developing skills. I don't see how he could possibly live up to the hype. I may be wrong, but I think Julius Randle will have a much better year than Wiggins. Our own Tyler Ennis, could have a better freshman season, and I think he will. I could be way off base with Wiggins, but I just don't see him as an NBA all star within two years.

All Boston fans are cursing you and thinking of the 97 lottery right now

Just like when Jordan drafted Kwame Brown out of high school. The kid was one dimensional, had ZERO work ethic, and got fat stats against high school kids. He was no where near ready to play NBA ball.

Sooner or later Calipari is going to end up with flame outs in the NBA, and his rotation system will fail. There simply won't be enough roster spots for the revolving door to continue en masse. If 6 UK kids come out every freaking year, eventually the available spots will dry up. They aren't going to kick veterans to the curb to grab up some 6th man on UK. Soon, like in 5 years, you'll see more doing D-League or Europe. Heck, he might be gone and UK on probation by then.

Whether or not if they're UK players, 30 guys get guaranteed contracts every year and veterans either retire or are cut. I'm not sure why the rookies being UK players would matter.

Yeah, it's not like a team cares if a kid is the 5th player drafted from UK or something vs the 3rd player drafted from SU.

The way that Derrick Rose plays will likely have a significant impact on rehab decisions going forward.

LOL at people pointing out what was OBVIOUSLY implied by Cuse VT.

Thats what they're saying. That Noel will sit out the enitre season to basically work on his game. Not entirely due to his current injury. This sounds really weird. I mean I knew he was a one dimensional player but is his game so bad that they think he can learn more practicing than playing? This will be interesting to see how it plays out. MCW is going to have a rough year with this roster. Is Noel already the next Greg Oden/Sam Bowie?

Possibly the most blatant tank job ever, by Philly.

Don't forget 2007

I actually don't think it's idiotic. It's intended to discourage tactics like this. Obviously it doesn't work, but at least teams aren't always rewarded for it.

I think the reason for the epic tank job is supposedly this draft is so good that with any pick in the top 3 you're getting a great player. If you finish with the worst record you have to be extremely unlucky to fall out of that top 3.

Bingo. Some people think Parker and/or Randle might be better than Wiggins.

Imagine the lengths teams would go to it there wasn't a lottery.
