I missed them earlier this year as it was too cloudy (may have seen some green light through the clouds, but couldn't be sure). Thought I was going to be denied again as it was cloudy here again around 12-1 PM. however, my wife happened to look out around 4 AM and saw it was clear and she could see a bit of the aurora out the window. Drove a few miles away to a dark area where it was open with a good view of the horizon to the north and it was incredible! the aurora really peaked around 5:45 AM, very visible naked eye.
