OT - Ole Roy Williams maybe crying the blues if all three of these guys

Worst big game coach in college history. Good old royboy. Cant wait to see that program burn in hell next year.

Stupid Roy was no more evident than versus Ohio. He has Zeller and Henson on the back line, and every time somebody drived to the basket the wings dropped down, but really too late to offer any resistance. Over and over, they left clear lanes for kickouts, which Ohio would hit.

Its Ohio... its not like Henson and Zeller should not be able to handle them... why are you allowing kickout after kickout Roy? Same crap against UNLV, Duke, and Florida St. Awful coaching.

my favorite part yesterday was at the end when the game was basically over, roy decides to go berserk on the white point guard with about a minute left. the kid played about 5 minutes a game this season, way to throw him under the bus.

That's Roy's MO. When things get stressful, blame someone else. He's a petty man who has never been gracious in defeat. I lost any sliver of respect I had for him when he took all his players to the locker room early during the 30 point loss to Florida State and left his walk-ons out there to get trampled. Ridiculous.

Wish that guard from Ohio would have converted that 3 point play cause it would have been ball game after Barnes great play on the end losing the ball.

I saw that too - right around the 1:15 mark. Basically blames the entire game on the kid. Who was the coach that signed off on a scholie to a D2 player Roy?

You people are ridiculous. Why don't you look in the mirror at your own coach's underachievements? Last time I checked, Roy has one more National Title and significantly more Final Four appearances than Boeheim.

And because its always brought up, the McDonald's All-American argument is one of the most tired in sports. Did I miss the memo that Syracuse has decided to make a moral statement by refusing to recruit A-A high schoolers? I didn't think so. Now, assuming that these guys are somehow instantly better college players than their unheralded counterparts (and of course, they aren't), the drawback is that they also might be more inclined to leave early for the draft. Some might say that consistently reloading with new players and consistently competing for spots deep in the tournament (while maintaining a pretty high academic standard) is a pretty impressive accomplishment. I'm sure nobody here would draw that conclusion, but I'll do it for you.

I look forward to personally fist-fighting each and every one of you at the dome in a couple of years. :)

Do you promise you will cry like Roy when we beat you up?

I've said this many times before, but it bears repeating: Williams has coached only at 2 of the 3 most historical programs in the nation. He has the team with more talent at least 90% of the time. His on-the -court results have not matched either of these facts.

As to his 2 championships--he won the first time with Doherty's players, and the second time with a passel of NBA talent that he somehow convinced to return for a 4th (Hansbrough and Green) or 3rd year (Lawson). (Although, I suppose there is a skill involved in re-recruiting these guys, when millions are at hand.)

Barnes might be one of the most overhyped college players in recent history.
I see nothing that indicates he will do anything in the NBA.
Seems very Kris Josephish.

Williams and Krzyzewski aren't great coaches, they win because they get a lot of top 5/10/15 ranked players coming out of high school. I highly doubt either one could get to the Final Four like SU, UConn, WV, Nova, Gtown, and Louisville have in the past decade with the lesser talent they get.

He must have a lot of people fooled to be 4-time National Coach of the Year.

Seems very Kris Josephish.

Harrison Barnes was the #1 recruit in the country. Kris Joseph was a nice high school recruit who turned into a very good player for us for three years. It's a bad comparison, and I don't get all the potshots I've seen on Kris in the last few days.

The coaching that gets done that wins National Titles is done in the living room of recruits. No other aspect of coaching has as much impact.
Also beware of saying NC or Duke gets the highest rated players. They do, but sometimes a player becomes a McD AA just because they WERE recruited by NC and Duke.

I don't know if that was really a potshot, although it may have appeared that way. Barnes was a good player, just not Bob McAdoo like he was portrayed

This thread is foolish. Roy Williams resume is pretty darn rock solid. Great guy who cares about his players, is a relentless recruiter, and wins games. Not sure what you guys are seeing, but he's one of the best of all time.

Meh ... I give Coach K credit, he built an outstanding program at Duke. There was tradition there when he showed up, but he turned that program into the #1 basketball program in the country. Same with Boeheim. He took a successful program and turned it into something special.

Roy? He showed up on time at two of the most prestigious programs in the country. There's a world of difference between asking a recruit to come to Middle of The Road U and UNC ("Hey, I just got off the phone with Michael Jordan and he said he can't wait to see you in baby blue ..."). So Ol' Roy might be a good coach and a solid recruiter, but he gets a lot of help from people who built programs before him.

Y'all are killing me. Williams did not step into an ideal situation at Carolina. There were serious issues from the Doherty years. He stabilized the program & quickly brought it back to its historically high level.

And God knows I hate Duke, but to even suggest K is not a great coach is absurd.

This thread is of the same cloth as the anti-Boeheim threads. Ultimately it has the same significance as the sound of one hand clapping.
