I don't know that I'm upset about what I see as a waste of money per se, since you are right and really people can do what they want with their cash. It's more the general idea that you're making a 'charitable ' donation to an institution that is literally just sitting on a general endowment of $10 billion and making sure the head coach, who's already making $4M a year (and would get a huge raise if he keeps winning) has some extra coin to get a few perks. It just feels like you could literally argue that going out and buying $35M worth of diamonds and jewelry for your mistress would honestly no worse, right?

Anyway, your point is fair and my criticism is admittedly unfair for a variety of reasons including the point that I don't know how I'd react if I had $35M to just hand out to someone or some organization, but I just find it weird that someone who has experienced life on this planet for six or seven decades decided that was an ideal cause for what is truly a difference-making sum of money.
