It would be for the hockey capability. One of my favorite sports to watch is college hockey.

Penn State, in only its second year as a D1 hockey program unveiled a new, beautiful arena this year, in "Hockey Valley".

This video is definitely worth a look.

Nice arena.

I just have to wonder if CNY could support two hockey teams in the same town. While the hockey nuts (no offense intended) might love it, the casual hockey fans would likely be split. If I'm the Crunch, I may only be on board with the new facility if SU does not start a men's hockey program.

SU's not going to go D1 in hockey as long as DG is running things. If any men's sports are added, it would be baseball.

Not sure how the Crunch fit in with the proposed new stadium other than maybe a couple of special games. No way either Gross or Dolgon are giving up Saturday night games for the other.

Helps having Terry Pegula fund the PSU hockey program (including building the arena) like Phil Knight has done with Oregon football.

I think the Pegula gift was $80M. It covered start up costs, arena, and endowed scholarships. It bought them last place.

Well BC has a hockey program and they are in the ACC, you look to join Hockey East or ECAC
