Weird story but I don't believe they were down there quarantining. I think she's from Liverpool and lived and worked down there teaching phys ed. He went down there to hang with her or live with her or whatever. Sure seems like a hit ...but maybe mistaken identify which doesn't do them any good.

He had just joined our golf club over the winter. Sad news.
My work takes me to Mexico quite regularly. Avoid border towns at all expense and be inconspicuous whenever you can.
We use a car service to move around. Taking his own car with New York plates was very risky.

I can't think of any reason I'd want to be in Juarez

Was in El Paso for 4 nights last year for work. Hotel was about 5 blocks from one of the crossings. Heard at least 2 large gun battles each night I was there - 2 of them lasted longer than 10 minutes. Agree about the cars, there are certain types of cars you absolutely should not drive (not saying this is why these 2 were killed).

El Paso City Hall has been hit by bullets from across the border more than once.

Yeah, I was doing work at the AAA stadium in El Paso this last fall for a week. There well like 50-60 border patrol agents staying at our hotel. Told us not to be venturing out, one guy had been there for months and trusted 3 places to go out and eat. One of their guys got robbed at gun point one night out at a strippy. Bad news.

I think the story meant that he was down there when the quarantine was ordered and was stuck there until it was lifted. At least that's how I took it.
