Given the choice between leaving the A10 to become a full-time MAC member, UMass chose the A10 instead.

I guess that makes them a basketball school.

Unless you're Notre Dame, it's very difficult to schedule as an independent. Hell, look at our scheduling issues. I have to wonder if they are chucking the D-I move and headed back to D-1AA.

I refuse to use the terms FBS and FCS.

This is what happened to Le Moyne athletics and why all our sports are now Division II. Baseball and women's lax were DI, playing in the MAAC conference. The MAAC became upset that Le Moyne kept winning the conference, saying that we funneled all of our money into those two sports, creating an unfair advantage (a laughable accusation). They changed the conference bylaws to no longer allow associate members, so Le Moyne either had to bring all sports DI and fully the join the conference, or get out. Le Moyne didn't want to do that, so baseball and women's lax went independent for a couple years, which didn't work out.

Looks to me like Navy may be backing off on joining the AAC. UMASS makes for a nice regional rivalry with the Huskies.
