Thank you, all of you, who (totally unsolicited) sent me contributions to help Sammy Palik rebuild his Sammy's Pizza and Grill (which was destroyed by fire two week's ago today). Especially thank you to JDemo... who showed up at the event in rain-drenched Southport, CT on Saturday to make a contribution. . Our spontaneous outdoor fund-raiser (did I mention it was raining?) raised more than $20,000 to help one of the nicest, kindest people I have ever known. And, PS, I left Southport at noon and got to the Turning Stone in time to change my clothes for the 5 pm black-tie reception at Jim and Juli Boeheim's Basket Ball. It took me a new record 4:09 door-to-door ... with no speeding tickets for a change (cruise control set at 78 mph the entire trip).
