OT: War Otto (9 year old creation)

So for board old timers, you'll remember we had a run of "War Otto" shirts that someone created featuring otto in a viking hat and carrying a tomahawk and beer stein.

I still wear mine on the regular, and my 9 year old fourth grade son came home from school today to show me what he drew in art class...he recreated the logo from memory! Proud Dad moment. In others news, I'd kill to have another run of War Otto gear.

BTW, I'm surprised the school district didn't call you and tell you your son is suspended for drawing a weapon and a beer mug. Joking kinda...

He's a sweet kid, and the other kids give him crap for wearing Syracuse stuff to school all the time since we live in the heart of Bloomington Indiana in IU country. But to his credit, he stares into the belly of the beast and is unwavered by the peer pressure...for now

There is hope. My now 12 yo is surrounded by Clemson fans in our little SC burg. I feel your pain and have told the boy many times he doesn't need to be an SU just because dad is but the kid bleed real orange!

Yes. We played Auburn in a home and home football series in 2001 and 2002. Killed them in the first SU game after 9/11 in 2001 and should have won in 2002.

Anyway, a lot of Auburn fans frequented our board in the weeks before those games. They all ended all their posts with

War Damn Eagle!

Some of us got mad and started ending our posts with

War Damn Otto!

There have been a number of images of Otto released where he/she/it is angry but I believe ours was the first. My memory is that the Otto image Rag's kid just re-did was initially designed because we wanted to do a shirt and needed a logo to make it clearly identifiable as something from our board.

We thought it would be funny and fitting to make Otto an angry drunk. Kind of like many of the people on the board. Props to Tom from the Boneyard for drawing it out. But I think it was cto and I who provided him with the concept for the drawing.

It is legitimately no hyperbole/joke my favorite Syracuse logo of any kind. Not only do I wish the university would adopt it as a secondary logo, I would legitimately purchase so much with it. The fact my kid committed it to memory without reference point speaks to how often I wear that shirt hahaha.

That 2002 loss at Auburn in OT on national TV still hurts.

A win could have changed a lot of things that season and beyond.

We should mention the back of those shirts as well. Had fun with a KU fan on a plane once with it. He remembered we beat KU in the ship but forgot we were also Big 12 Champs that year..lol
