OT-What to do Saturday?

Because of travel, we've never had a full free day in Syracuse when we've come up for games. This time, we've got all day Saturday. Any suggestions on things PAcuse and I should see/do? Note: I'm 8 months pregnant so I'd like to avoid bar touring. :)
I guess a wine tour is also out, huh? The Finger Lakes area is gorgeous, might be worth checking out anyway.

I like the suggestions of the cruises on Skaneateles Lake. Get the dinner tour one and enjoy. Captain Karl is a friend of mine and a good guy.

Skaneateles Daily

You could drive up to Alexandria Bay and take a boat tour of the Thousand Islands. That is nice and really scenic too, but a longer drive than Skaneateles.

The Syracuse Chiefs are in town Saturday and are scheduled to play Buffalo at 7 pm. AAA baseball is just one step from the big leagues and tickets and food are cheap.

If you love baseball, a visit to Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame might be nice.

National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum

The Everton has an exhibit on ceramics, Munson has one on fashion, Sacketts Harbor has a thing on the War of 1812. See more here:

Too bad that you are off by a couple weeks: Irish Festival next weekend and Festa Italiana the weekend after--both right in downtown.

Make sure you stop for lunch at Dinosaur Barbecue... and then let hubby have a pint at Middle Ages Brewing Co. Both downtown and only a few blocks from one another.

I have to agree with those saying Skaneateles. Also if you have the time and don't want to travel back to PA on 81 Rt 15 is a nice option.

I am surprised no one said rake leaves or pick apples, maybe a couple weeks too early for leaves? :)
Did you actually read all of the posts? Both were mentioned. If you're not from here then you wouldn't know but 1911 - Beak and Skiff is an apple orchard, voted tops in the country. I definitely recommend they take a visit.

Just a very short jaunt off of I81 at the LaFayette exit.
SkinnyAtlas would be a nice choice for their return trip to PA. Lunch/Brunch at Bluewater Grill or the Sherwood Inn and then a nice scenic ride down East Lake Road (Rte 41). That will take them right into Homer and the I81 entrance there. What's not to like?

Drop your husband off at a sports bar where he can watch a full day of college football, and you treat yourself to a well-deserved full day at a spa. Everyone is a winner.

Relax Pyle it was supposed to be a joke in reference to the many times this board has joked about why people don't attend SU football games on nice autumn afternoons...you know picking apples, raking leaves, etc. I did actually read thru them and must have missed the raking, and I was not aware that 1911 -Beak and Skiff was an apple orchard destination. We have plenty in the Rochester area to visit, maybe not #1 in the country but we have them, including two within 5 minutes of my house.

I've found that grocery stores and modern supply chains have made apple orchards unnecessary.

I once went to Fly Creek Orchard and cider mill near Cooperstown. Planned on making a day of it. After about a half hour we almost simultaneously said, "this is boring, let's go to the Brewery instead", and we headed to Ommegang and spent the day there. Great decision.

You could be the DD. :)

I'll leave now

You think? I still find that apples bought at the orchard are better than what I find at the store that are labeled as local, even during apple season.

If the weather is decent, Onondaga Lake Park is a nice place to walk and finish the walk with a stop at Heide's for a Hoffman's hot dog. At least it used to be a decade and a half ago.

Almost any lake in NY is a nice place when the weather is good. The Finger Lakes are great. If you weren't carrying around a lovable leach mooching a ride and steeling your food, hiking trails in any of the parks is generally good, too (except during game time, then hiking is bad, very bad).

Pastabilities or Francesca's. My Grandmother's next door neighbor's son own both Francesca's (Little Italy and Liverpool). Phenomenal place to grab food.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! Now it's time to get on the road and to the game :)

Not trying to get all technical on you, but where do you think the apples sold in grocery stores, and logistically transported around the Country, come from?
