I would have to think that with Bromley Zues gone and with John questionable at best Big Wayne has to be our most important addition for next year. Is he good to go and will he be starting school in Jan? How many years does he have to play?

Two years to play two years...I 'm taking a wait and see.

He needs to arrive: get in shape, get stronger, learn the playbook and stay in good graces with the school academic wise.

agreed but from a raw talent stand point the kid has a chance to demand doubles cant teach 6-5 350 with quicks

Crume is going to be a beast next year, but agree Wayne hopefully is effective. He should be here in January finally, feels like we have been recruiting him for 5 years.

I think he is going to play with a gigantic chip on his shoulder. It burns his butt that Ishaq got all the attention and he was ignored. The fact that he had academic challenges doesn't make that go away.

I can't wait to see him play.

Chalk me up for one of the WRs--probably Kevin Williams.

if he works his tail off he has a chance to be special. should play at 6-5 330 if john can come back with crume and sloan it would make for a nice 4 man inside rotation. I have a feeling that we end up bringing in a juco dt this year as well for depth.

My gut is we are a 3-4 defense next year, especially with the emphasis on linebacker recruiting. That's one less hand in the dirt we have to worry about being on the field.

Shafer's base has been 4-3 for his whole career best I can tell. He has multiple variations of the 3-4: base, Oakie 2 Robber, Oakie spy etc. He runs so many blitz packages that it hardly matters what the base defense is because he is going to put 7 guys up there anyway and let you try to figure out what is coming and what isn't.

One of these days we are going to get some big fast corners that can really run press coverage and then watch out. We'll be running man free all day long and there goes your pass happy offense. I can't wait.

I have to agree especially with our lack of experience/depth at DT. I am looking forward to see what happens with Williams. He hasn't played all that much the past couple years and looked close to 4 bills in that recent photo. He is going to have to be in shape. I think Ryan Sloan could be a sleeper next season.

I think we are going to be waiting a while for that unfortunately. The corners we have committed and recruiting are all about 5'9 160. We had our best chance this year with Keon and Ri'Shard

Yeah, I know but I gotta believe they are coming now that we are in the ACC. As we establish ourselves as a team that actually plays defense I think we will attract the big fast guys. I can hope!

Yeah, that 3-4 really looked good against Ga Tech last year... Not a chance.

KJ and Jamal are pretty damn important, same with Cooper and winfield

This is pretty much it. Anyone who wants to get into the 4-3 or 3-4 discussion is really only talking about 1st down and 2nd & medium to short defense. Everything else is a specialty defense. The okie is a 3-3-5 where we can line up safeties/linebackers anywhere and bring as many as Shafer/Bullough want to. And against spread teams we've played the okie (nickel) more than not.

Really like his potential, but prefer to see him play first before we go "most important" route.
