DePaul currently has a 9-3 record. Looks pretty decent, at face value.

However, out of the Blue Demon's 9 wins, three of them are over teams that are currently have only 1 win and two of them are over teams that are currently winless.

They only have two wins over teams that currently have winning records: Texas Tech and Cal-Poly.

To say Depaul has played a weak schedule is an insult to teams that have actually played weak schedules. Their SOS currently ranks 321 (there's only 344 teams in the RPI).

The combined record of teams that they have beaten is 25-80, 23.8%.

By comparison, the combined record of teams that we've beaten is 111-66, 62.7%.

Good grief they're not very good. I think Providence is a better team than Depaul.

I'm a little worried because traditionally cues has has problems in Chicago...and depaul has a legit bepoy candidate.

DePaul beat Cal-Poly
Cal-Poly beat USC
USC beat South Carolina
South Carolina beat Clemson
Clemson beat Iowa
Iowa beat Wisconsin
Wisconsin beat UNLV
UNLV beat UNC

We play a team that's better than UNC tomorrow!
6 degrees of Syracuse's next opponent, I kinda like it.

The down side of that data is that if we played the same schedule, we would be just as good as we are now, and would have the same pct 25-80 , 23.8%
The missing data that gives a better picture in conjunction with the data you post would be the combined records of the team DePaul has lost to.

Yeah, let's look past Depaul, a BE team on the road will be harder than planned. Almost always are.

Traditionally? Actually I can only remember 3 Chicagos game. One in 1980 vs DePaul, and 2 since DePaul entered the BE. Am I leaving any out? We lost the 81 game to a great DePaul team and the 2006 game (very badly I may add, a game that made little sense) so your point is well taken , but that sample size is a little small .
What fits more the profile is like a poster stated above, any BE road game can never be taken for granted when you are a perennial conference power like us. The crowd is worth several points more, than when Providence comes in

The teams that Depaul lost to (Minnesota, Ole Miss and Milwaukee) are a combined 29-10. Combining the records of all of the teams that they have played gets you to 54-90, 37.5%. Still not very good.

Our really good 2010 team (the Wes, AO and Andy team), only beat Depaul by 2 in Chi-town. I think Depaul led for most of the game.

We really haven't played well in Chicago. Maybe we are overdue for a good performance.

We also won 60-55 in 2008; We only had 6 scholarship players, I believe, as Scoop was suspended due to the credit card thingy. Justin Thomas saw rare 1st half walk-on action.

last two trips to Chicago, cuse fell behind by 20 in the first half. that's all you need to know.

I learned a long time ago that who else the other team has played and how they did in those games doesn't win it for you. The team should look at each game as another opportunity to prove they are the #1 team in the country. Then they'll take care of business.

Wasn't it Depaul one year where we were short of players and had to bring in FB player(s) (Melvin Tuten?)?

I think it was Cincy (Conor Barwin).
