Outstanding CNN/SI article written by Jameel McClain

Ultimate example of what CFB (as well as any other sport) can do if a kid has the right perspective. Always with an eye for the future, working his best for the present, remembering the past. Mr. McClain, you are an example for all to follow.

That was just tremendous. I remember an article in Jameel's senior year that described his background growing up and what an awesome perspective he had. Glad that hasn't changed. What a great representative for Syracuse. I just hope if he does get another chance, and I think he still has plenty left in the tank, that he stays healthy. Those neck injuries scare the crap out of me and Jameel just has too much of a future for something like that to happen.

I agree with RICuse44 - he may or may not be interested in coaching but I hope Coach Shafer is aware of him and at least brings him back to talk to the team before each season. I think his story could have a huge impact on the guys.

hell of an article and 1 super Hell of an NFL career.

undrafted to 7 years.

Fn A.

too bad everyone here hated and/or ignored him because he didnt play QB, WR or RB.

But I heard Syracuse students were all trust fund babies?

I miss CNN\SI. #FinishUpStrong

You have to give credit to a man that refused to allow his circumstances dictate his future. While we have a thread going regarding Syracuse University's current ranking and the value it provides a graduate, here is a guy I would bet on if he walked in with a degree from anywhere.

Yeah, we hate all those non QB/WR/RB guys.
its worse than hate.

its totally ignore and look down upon the career they chose based on ones own ignorance.

Kaiser, what's your perspective on McClain getting cut? Seems like he put up good numbers, but wasn't an impact player [which is hard to say, given the 116 tackles]. Salary dump?

he got another neck stinger this summer and he missed a few weeks, word is that they felt it was a risk they couldnt take, that it could happen again at any moment and theyd be out a linebacker. since he doesnt play specials anymore, it was an easy cut to make.

not to mention even more cap savings.

curious to see if he gets a call from anyone or even by the Giants based on injuries or ineffectiveness
