The Clemson win, of course, was a big step forward for the conference.

I was surprised the VT score was as close as it was. Given VT's injuries and offensive struggles, I thought that had 49-0 written all over it. Bud Foster earned his money. The special teams coordinator (we all know who that is) didn't.

It's unchartered waters, but I think the negative noise about Beamer in Blacksburg is going to get louder. It's basically been an underground movement so far. A lot of frustration down there about the offense. And if the specials continue to slip...

Georgia is a very tough, quick, and talented team. Impressive win for Clemson.

They've beaten two upper tier SEC teams in a row. Impressive.

Ultimately a conference's reputation is based on how many teams they have in the top 10 and how they perform in the highest profile bowls.

Week to week results are fine, but the ACC will have its rep repaired when it has 2-3 teams at the top of the rankings and when it wins big bowl games.

1-3 against the major conferences is not a good week unless one is happy as a bridesmaid.

UVA beating BYU was good for the conference. Duke looking like Cutcliffe has them destroying 1-AA teams was good. VPI got taken to the woodshed. BC beat Nova. So while we lost and North Carolina didn't beat USC the ACC has a chance to be good nationally. It will be interesting to see if Georgia can beat South Carolina next week because the ACC needs Georgia to do well and not poop the bed. Georgia has South Carolina and LSU in 2 of their next 3 games wow what a start to the season, @Clemson, South Carolina, Tomato can, LSU.
The Big XII took it on the chin this week. Their best team Okie State struggled with Mississippi State. Texas slept walk vs New Mexico State, Oklahoma was on cruise control and WVU was in a dogfight with Bill and Mary and Kansas State lost to the 2-time 1-AA National Champs.

This upcoming week is huge.

Florida@Miami
Oregon@Virginia
Syracuse@Northwestern

the ACC needs 2 of 3 here to get respect nationally and to help Clemson/FSU get into the national title picture. Obviously Oregon will be tough for UVA, but Miami needs to beat Florida and we can beat Northwestern if we play well.
