Pace numbers

It's early in the conference season, but John Gasaway put out his Tuesday Truths column today, which basically looks at per possession numbers in conference play so far. Link is here: http://basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2514

Anyway, the interesting thing I thought was that the BE has fewer possessions per game this year than the Big 10, which is traditionally the slowest major conference. We are actually the third slowest team in the conference, though to me that is more a function of our opponents than anything else.

The amazing thing is there are 5 teams playing slower than Georgetown. That's a third of the conference!

It sucks. How badly do I wish we could get a 30 second shot clock.

We would be a lot better and force teams hand.

I count 7 teams playing at a slower pace than SU . . . we are right in the middle of the pack
