The Dome is such a huge venue that when it has 6k people in it, it feels like 500 in other venues. Maybe the players were pumped to play their first game in front of their fans in the Dome, a venue that gets talked up so much, only to end up with an environment like the one last night and it effected their play. I might be reaching and hoping for something to justify the poor performance, and the players should be able to get up for a game regardless, but it's always mentioned that teams feed off of the crowd.
