Panic play call in OT

If we had Ishmael or Amba...a big WR who goes up and often WINS any kinds of battles there may be, then...maybe.

This is the real issue. Wth was that on 1st down

There was nothing wrong with the play call. The ball was underthrown. If it was thrown farther it was a touchdown.

It wasn't a bad play call, it was a bad decision.

More importantly, it was a particularly bad play call and a particularly bad QB read in OVERTIME!

Possession is way more important in college overtime. You get it ONCE per overtime! Never throw into double coverage, much less triple!

I didn’t have a huge issue with that honestly. Just hold onto the ball and it’s not an issue. Probably 60/40 it gets blown dead, but don’t open yourself up to the 40% of the time it doesn’t.

Also, the TV announcer commented that the Pitt DB was a late sub and hadn't played much. Maybe the play call was predicated on beating their usual DB.

Everything was wrong with the play-call. Even if you get the BEST option (which is a TD) you then just rush your defense which looked exhausted right back on the field and gave them no rest at all.

Not if you go for 2 and the win. That defense wasn’t stopping Pitt in OT. Win or lose on offense.

Nope, you are correct...we score there, it's make it take it to start the 2nd OT.

It wasnt underthrowm, it was thrown too much to the inside instead of the safe throw towards the sideline. Thats the problem with the play, needed a perfect throw, on the run, to a small reciever. Thus, yes, it was a bad call.

Its astounding how much other college teams use the real estate between the numbers. We throw horizontal bubbles to the boundry or fades down the sideline (lucky break with Custis).
