Endless waiting for the resolution of the status of key members of the team on pretty much a regular basis. McCrosky , Edelin, Devendorf, Melo... And most often we are pretty much completely in the dark as to the real story behind the circumstances which surround the hiatus du jour. This season we've been called upon to endure the insane, maddening uncertainty resultant from the Bernie Fine affair which at times seemed to jeopardize the career of James Arthur Boeheim as well. As if that hadn't been enough, now we all sit by waiting, pensively, gnashing our teeth as to what the outcome of the Fab Melodrama will be. To up the ante even more, we find ourselves in the midst of what potentially could be, or perhaps could have been, the most glorious and storied season of all time for Orange Basketball.

Is there any other major D-1 program that has it's fans go through so much angst as we do? Perhaps, but our angst is our angst and who cares about the other guys anyhow, right? Some posters jokingly alluded to the idea that some Orangemaniacs had actually sold their soul to the devil in exchange for Syracuse finally coming out on top in a National Championship Game after having been within minutes, and even seconds of being Champs. Hogwash? Maybe so, but one has to wonder. Arinze going down when we looked like a pretty good bet to bring home the trophy and now this! 20 -0 and whispers around the country about the Cuse running the table, Boeheim on the precipice of passing two of the all time greats for coaching wins! It all seemed so awesome!

Only to get up on Saturday morning and as you log into Syracusefan.com you notice a post that's headed, "I heard some bad news". Bad news! Snikies! Bad news is that the line has moved down from 22 points to 12 points or that Kentucky has won their last few games or that Joe Pa isn't doing so well. This makes bad news sound like "I'm going to Disney World!" Why... Why... and who were those few who sold their souls? I want names, addresses, date of births! One can only hope that by some miracle Otto's plea to the powers that be will be successful in mediating the current disaster and we can move on to embrace our appointment with destiny and bring home the National Championship Trophy which we all know should have already resided in Central NY 3 times already and most certainly should be there come April 2012. But for now... I guess I just keep hitting the refresh button on SUAD and hope for the best.

Honestly, this happens at most major programs.

Kanter w/ UK last year took FOREVER. The boatwright thing right now w/ UConn.

As Syracuse fans, we are more conscious of the Syracuse ones. As one who lives in Connecticut, I can tell you that UConn has as many as SU. Every year, they seem to have another drama.

I would contend that UConn needs to be exempted from the list since they are certainly deserving of any trauma they experience! I lived in Ct. most my life until I moved to Florida in '93. When I meet people and tell them I'm originally from Ct. they assume that I must be a Husky fan. When they ask me they see my eyes blacken with contempt Oh Lord and hear the sound of me gritting my teeth. But, I digress and your point is well taken. Like I mentioned however, our angst is our angst and scr&w the other guys! :)

It's called selective observation. If you paid as much attention to other programs across the country as much as you do SU, you would realize these types of things are normal occurrences.
