If he pulls the "we're here to talk about Nebraska and Nebraska only" bulls**t, I will throw up in my mouth. You are a pedophile cover upperer and an employee of the state of Pennsylvania. Take some god dang responsibility

I'm not holding my breath that this presser will go well

Is this the normal game week presser? He should avoid it if so. The only presser he should be calling is the one where he announces that he is stepping down, if not immediately then at the end of the season.

The idea that JoePa would attempt to hold a presser today is almost comically sad...... I would think that the last thing any PSU official should be doing is taking the dais with a microphone in front of a pack of blood thirsty reporters. I can't imagine what JoePa or anyone else connected with PSU could or would be allowed to say that could result in anything but more shame to PSU.

Paterno just strikes me as an old warhorse / powerful political chairman / godfather type (not criminal til now) who is utterly tone deaf to the rest of the world because he doesn't need to be any other way.

Today won't go well.

Liking Jimmy Johnson a lot more now...do your thing and get out and enjoy life.

Yes it is his normal game week presser. I really really doubt it happens but a couple of tweeters are saying he may step down. I think he is too arrogant to do that. I'm beginning to wonder if he supports child abuse/sex. I was also reminded that a few years ago N.O.W. (yes I know most hate them), tried to get him fired over comments he made about sex abuse.

I think you nailed it. And he's had the media in the state, particularly in and around Central Pennsyltucky, eating out of his hand for so long that he probably thinks no one would dare push this issue too far when he's come down from Mount Nittany to dispense his wisdom on football.

Paterno spent what, 9-15 years now choosing football over dealing with removing a child molester, I would think it's time to face the music and not talk about football for a day.

won't happen - you don't get to be the all-time leader in wins without being a very stubborn s.o.b. - he'll just try to do his regular press conference

Agree. And just watch, by next week this will be completely off the radar.

I don't think he raises money for NAMBLA, but seems like the type that would say Jerry - go hug your wife and get yourself fixed. Not the first guy of his generation to do that.

He's an enabler of child rape and as guilty as the rapist himself. He should step down immediately and be in the same jail cell as Sandusky.

No, this story isn't going away any time soon. Would love to see JoePa fall on his sword today. It won't happen.

According to UConn board Kim Jones a penn st grad was on Mike Francesca's show yesterday and they were ripping Joe. She covered Penn St football when she was a student there. She's going on assignment to the press conference today. This is not going away anytime soon unless joe steps down as head coach.

Yes, before a bowl game against FSU he commented about a FSU player being suspended for sexual assault and how sad it was because women are knocking on these guys' doors and what are they supposed to do?

I'd kill for some to ask him how he would feel if it was his grandson. Just for the look on his face it would be worth it.

Maybe he'll go the Reagan route and do the "I don't remember" thing. This GA guy has to live with this as well and was he given his job so he'd keep quiet? I don't see paterno falling on the sword, he's way too arrogant and he's been the king of psu for far too long to recognize what reality really is.

I believe that Paterno will step down very soon. It's very convenient, however, that he reached the all-time wins record, just before the cover got blown off this thing.

you must have missed the lengthy thread we had on that including a link to the podcast of the show.

Subject: The Fuhrer's briefing

***STAFF ADVISORY***

Members of the General Staff planning to attend tonight's briefing are advised that the primary focus of the briefing is to discuss General Steiner's counter-attack against the Russian forces in the Berlin sector. The Fuhrer and other high state officials will discuss plans for eventual Victory in the war against international Bolshevism.

There's going to be riot at the press conference. There's going to be media there from all over the country looking to ask questions about the scandal, and Paterno and the Penn State PR folks are going to say, "Sorry." Should be interesting. I also heard it's going be a tele-confernce, not a regular face-to-face press conference. Anyone else hear that?

It's also the Senior Week presser where they'll trot out the graduating players to be ignored by the media salivating over grilling Joe.

This is what happens when you let a frail, mentally-failing 84-year-old man be the figurehead leader of your program.

At this point in his life Paterno is not equipped to deal with this kind of press conference. It's going to be a total sh!tshow.

Agree about JoPa's arrogance. I'm fairly sure he sees himself as being above the fray here. Though he obviously is not. I don't see him resigning. But I do think this will be his last year at PSU.
