For all the talk about Lester's offense and the 12 personnel. If he takes anything from New England, it should be how they work guys into favorable match-ups. You don't need to have Gronk to take a big guy from the slot and have him clear the WR to get into space on a slant route, or have that big guy split wide and let the slot guy run an out off the rub.

I also liked how NE used Vereen out the backfield on a LB. Erv and Estime could both be used in this manner and the right route combinations can make the reads much easier on the QB.

you need a wr that can run quick routes and work with a qb on quick site adjustments and also qb that can throw into small windows. not sure we have any of those yet. dont underestimate that gronk is so big teams have to go big or they will get out blocked in the running game. our small slow te's are little threat to most teams so we dont get an advantage in run or pass plays. NE gets one on both with Gronk.

Brady wasn't throwing in small windows on a lot of balls to Edelman. Yes, you do need a quick WR, which I think SU has- not 4.4 guys, but guys who can make quick cuts. If teams aren't jamming at the line, you are clearing space and making quick reads and throws before a pass rush can get to the QB and you are getting the ball to playmakers on the move and in space.

I know there isn't a Gronk on the roster, but you still have big guys who can be used as screeners for routes. Custis, Enoicy and Dunkelberger don't seem to be small, slow TE's to me.

Dunk is neither small or slow...

Custis & Enoicy aren't TEs, at least not yet. But, Dunkelberger (6'4" & 245 lbs), Moore (6' 5' & 230 lbs) and Parris (6' 4", & 245 lbs) aren't exactly small.
