At least I hope he will be.

Not just for his hair... also for his game.

Crowder was one of my favorite non-SU players. Loved his hustle on both ends of the court. And Patterson is the same kind of player. And he has the same great HAIR!

I missed the game but i've been thinking Paul Harris...

I was thinking, from a build standpoint, while he doesn't have the guns that Paul did, everything else about him physically reminds me of Do It All.

Ceiling - Jae Crowder

Floor - Louie McCroskey

No friggin way is Buss' floor McCroskey. Louie was a me-first player with no shot and an attitude. He thought he had game and he didnt Buss can play. He looks like he'll have some ups and downs but will be a nice contributor.

Louise wasn't Meshaun but he's one of my least favorite Orangemen ever. Buss is going to have a lot more good than bad moments on the hill.

You understand what "floor" means, correct?

I don't think he's that different from Louie at the same point in their careers though...hustlers who are often out of control offensively, questionable outside shot and handle, good strength, good defender, hard nosed. We all want to see the best case scenario for our new guys(leading to the absolutely ridiculous overhyping that happens with most of our new players...only for many to turn on the ones who are just ordinary). Let's not forget Louie got a lot of minutes on good teams his first two years. The problem was he never got better at all, and made the same mistakes for 3 years. His shooting was awful and never improved at all. Same with his decision making and basketball sense, offensively.

That's why Louie is the floor. Most players get better, and I expect Patterson to.

Of course, I know what "floor" means, but he's already a lot higher up than Louie's floor based on what I said above. I really didnt like Louie, can't you tell. :p

I do see your point about getting better from the floor you start from; we disagree on what these players' bases are. And Louie didn't improve because his attitude sucked.

I(along with 99.9% of others here) have only seen Patteron in the Canadian games(where he mostly struggled badly offensively, but played hard and made some thing happen defensively)....is that not what Louie's game was?

Patterson looked better tonight. Hopefully that's how he normally shoots the ball.

He reminds me of a Pitt guard...all I see is Brad Wanamaker.

If your going to say his floor is louie why not say its someone who got 0 minutes instead?

Patterson did more well then shoot the ball tonight, he helped run the offense.

during a 5 minute stretch of the first half around the 10 minute mark he did all this.

-patterson drove across the perimeter to move the ball and got fouled to shoot one and one.
-patterson was the only orange that hustled backdown court to stop a holy family easy two points and nearly did.
-ron tried to thread the needle to the back door low post and holy family barely knocked it out. If they didn't the pass was right on target for a easy transition 2.
- ron finds tyler roberson at the foul line for a two point jumper.
- ron strips the ball on a holy family defender, cuse gets possession.
- ron grabbed a rebound.
- ron does the same pass to the foul line to roberson, runs right along the sideline and knocks down the three.

Ron seems like a true combo guard to me. as I mentioned in another post he has the potential to be our third guy to run the offense THIS YEAR. Grant played well off the ball in a cooney like way tonight (half court transition and off the ball). And BJ/ Roberson may score but they aren't going to create alot with thier passing or off the dribble one on one. Dajuan and Rak are playing more downlow then in the mid post.

While Ennis and fair are resting, in foul trouble, or during tough games, its up to Ron or Gbinije to try to step up and be the guy that helps Fair and Ennis run the offense. And imo Patterson was easily the best third option to setting up the halfcourt offense tonight.

I'm pretty sure I explained why I said his floor is Louie, so I have no idea why you are asking that question. Too busy going nuts over Ron throwing a pass that was barely knocked out of bounds(!), to read, I guess?

I remember when Louie was going to be "the answer" to our 03-04 team's offensive woes, when he got off suspension. I was at the Dome in his first game when he came off the bench and made a few shots and everyone was going nuts, like we found the missing key. Now you all hate him.

Forgive me if I don't compare EVERY FREAKIN FRESHMAN who hasn't played a real game yet to an NBA player, only to rip on them later in the year when they don't live up to the crazy expectations.

Not dissing your post (hate when people do that), just finding a deeper basement ;)

In this new era of syracuse basketball recruits will play.

Louis is one of the most important players ever for this board. He brought us Francis

I've been thinking Scoop 2.0 except more athletic.

Obviously, Patterson plays a different position, and will contribute in different ways than Scoop. But I don't think is a bad comparison, in terms of career trajectory. I think he'll end up being a very good / important player for us as an upperclassman. He's a four year program guy--and you need those type of guys to sustain excellence, surrounding top caliber recruits.

I don't see any comparison to Crowder whatsoever.

In terms of physical appearance, I'd go with Donovan McNabb.

Others who come to mind are Rock Lloyd, Levance Fields, Khalid El-Amin, Shelvin Mack and Jordair Jett.

Paul Harris for me. Solid body and athleticism, bright spots every game, but forgets to bring the ball with him sometimes. His hands aren't the greatest and he seems to get ahead of himself a bit. I loved watching him stroke those 3's though and there's no doubting his hustle.

But it's really hard for me to compare any player with a semi decent outside shot to Paul Harris.

Energy wise I do see crowder. Style of play I dont think he mimics anyone. I said before he was part paul part scoop part jonny.
