I can confirm Paul Chryst as the next head football coach at Pittsburgh. Will be made official by the school within 48 hours.

That offense would definitely suit the blue collar run it down their throat style of living Pittsburgh is famous for. I'm sure the fans will love this hire.

Okay, I'm going to hold you to it, though.

There are so many coaches out there with connections to Western PA, I am surprised they felt the need to go with an outsider like this. Chyrst replaced former board favorite Brian White as the Wisconsin OC in 2005. He has done a terrific job for the Badgers.

Will be interesting who he hires for his staff. Charles Partridge is a co-defensive coordinator for Wisconsin and coached at Pitt for 5 years. Will be interesting to see if he can convince him to leave Madison. Might also go after Joe Rudolph, the UW TE and recruiting coordinator, who is originally from Pennsylvania.

I bet FIU losing their bowl game knocked out Cristobal and clinched it for Chryst. Otherwise, why wait till now?

Back to the old style Pitt offense.

More in keeping with Western PA.

Another adjustement period for the Panthers.

Rumor has it that Pitt and Cristobal could not agree on a buyout.

I really like the Chryst hire, though. He will fit in well in Pittsburgh.

I also read that some Pitt boosters thought Cristobal was way more of a flight risk.
