Just getting rid of Vollono should take us from 99th to around 50th in penalties per game.  He was a major destructive force to the program.

I have seen a lot of bad coaching doing my 50 plus years following SU football but I have never seen a worse coaching job than Vollono did with our special teams units.

It also took him a couple tries before he decided to go with the all conference placekicker from Cornell over the guy we had that was the worst placekicker in the ACC the previous season and a walk on who had never placekicked in college before.

I am sorry for Vollono’s family that he got fired but he deserved it.  It is amazing he made it through the whole season.  That was brutal to watch.
