It seems if you fill 100 seat stadium 6 times a year that generates a lot of money. Otherwise no way they’re making close to 150 million a year just on football unless they are including all tv revenue in football.

Might not be so far off. I think conference revenue is at the bottom of the chart in non program specific.

They had 7 home games in 2024, averaged 108k fans, so that's 750k tickets sold. Given that Ohio State was on the schedule, I bet the average ticket price was at least $150. That's $112M in ticket sales alone.

Throw in parking and concessions for 7 games, you may end up close. I don't know where they record donations, but I would imagine they get a **** ton of those too.

It's good to have a huge stadium that people will fill and pay a lot to get into.

and they are putting $700 million into stadium upgrades

lmao 'non program specific' aka burn money on the silliest we can find so we can cry poor

I'm guessing it's for interest on athletic project borrowings, administrative costs, facility upkeep, housing, etc.

My question is why are they projecting their borrowing to skyrocket this year? Are they building something?

Don't they have a top-tier wresting program? I suspect that doesn't come cheap.

The top three spending wrestling programs are Iowa ($4MM), Oklahoma State ($5MM), and Penn State ($7.8MM). If Penn State spent just $1MM more than the program with the second highest expenses, it would be a money making program.

I think the reality is that as long as Sanderson keeps winning national championships, nobody at the school will dare question how much he’s spending. It’s a great situation to be in as a coach.

It’s also a continuation of the culture that led to Sandusky getting covered up…good to know as a PA resident that the names changed but the core issues in State College remain. Just discouraging.
