Per Nolan article 13 prospects on campus today...

So Broyld is officially enrolled already?

Man I dislike alot of the posters on that site.

I really like the way the line could be shaping up. If we get Zian, and he is ready to fill a role in the DT rotation, we'd have Crume, Bromley, Sloan, Boatman, and Zian. I think this lets us put Goggins on the outside to replace MM. We could dominate the run, without losing much, if anything, on the pass-rush.

article 13 of the penal code states that any recruit that visits shall be forced to commit or face severe penalties enforced by some wackjob.

That just does not read right my friend... or maybe it does... sicko

a few loads on the dline would be a nice thing to have-with ashtons speed and size maybe switch him to de if qb dont pan out-kid has size speed to play end

I say use Ashton as a big WR if QB doesn't pan out. He'd be a load of a mismatch. Plus, we do have some explosive DEs... I don't think the extra inch Ashton brings over Simmons and Washington, or the extra 10 pounds he brings over Poncho, is the best utilization of his skills.

I am a big fan of Pierce-Brewster. Adding Bryan Johnson and Markus as pass rush DEs could really help us address our lingering issues rushing the passer. Those two can run.

I want to bring in Bryan Johnson bad... I just imagine short clips of AC/DC songs after this guy kills the quarterback.

kid has wicked tools-he could be a monster at end with those long arms and his speed-
but d-end is also about a attitude,if he had a freeney type mean streak ;)

Oh I agree. I think he definitely could succeed in a big way at DE. I just think our recent DL additions are very solid, so when you throw in his complete lack of experience, I'm not sure how economical such a move would be. Versus WR, where we haven't yet been able to bring in guys that project as the whole package. We've got size, we've got speed, and we've got reliable possession-types... I hope Cornelius is the whole package, but we shall see. Broyld is physically dominating enough to be that go-to guy, or, his hands might be crap. Still rootin for him at QB, but as long as we utilize him as a weapon somewhere, I will be happy.

As am I.
1st Team CC All-American and Defensive PoY. He seems poised to step in and provide help right away.

kid is a stud-lets hope he has his switch flipped and learns to be a student long enough to be a contributor

This is all good, a nice recruiting weekend despite the weather. I had a feeling we'd max out at 25+. The DE prospects look really good, especially one or two of the JUCO's. Jones is a load and is worth a shot. I love Norton, instant improvement to ST. Thomason's coming in 1/20, correct? This kid is impressive and has better speed than Manley.

Manley, Thomason, Pierce-Brewster and Johnson - that would be checking the DE box with a sledge hammer. Hope it all plays out. I'm lukewarm on Jones, usually you see some other BCS schools involved. The JUCO's we have picked up historically where SU was the only BCS offer turned out to be backups at best. If we're going to commit a schollies to 2 year players is rather they be potential starters.

The wave sucks now but if the recruits are doing it means they were having fun which is very good!:)

Tep, Jones may be dicey, but I still think he's an under-the radar type. I like his size and what I read and saw of him. The lack of BCS offers is a question, but doesn't bother me because he still may be under evaluation by some. Visits to Portland State can raise a flag, though. I think we're aggressively seeking 3 DEs, and the 4 you mention would be at the top of my wish list, too. Don't know too much of Bailey and nothing at all on Garrick. I like the fact we're very active with some pretty decent A-list talent this late in the process.

One of the spots will be going to a kicker. Talk at a luncheon was that the staff was looking at two kickers who put the ball into the end zone with good hang time. They wanted to put an end to one of our special team issues next season.

Long Island Sports Examiner:

With this success, Norton has caught the eye of a number of top universities. “This spring I was fortunate enough to have many great schools contact me,” he said. “Some of them include Penn State, LSU, Tennessee, Syracuse, University of Miami, University of Pennsylvania, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, [and] Stony Brook,” adding that Bryant College has offered him a scholarship. In terms of his decision making process, which will have him choose between historical football powerhouses and elite academic universities, Norton says “it is definitely a combination of academics and competition that will ultimately help me make my decision,” adding that he is currently planning on pursuing a degree in business.
Norton’s career has gotten a boost from a strong support staff that includes Garden City assistant coach Dave Ettinger, who kicked collegiately at Hofstra, and New York Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff, who is a longtime family friend. The young kicker says that Westhoff is “not only the best special teams coach in the NFL, but he has [also] been a mentor and guide for years.”
