in 2011, that would've worked out to 22nd in the country on offense and 13th in the country on defense. if you're top 25 in both, you're going to have an awesome record. 0-1 is just a fluke.  last year bama WVU and so miss were the only teams top 25 in both
 
when you see that many points on the board, it's hard to convince yourself the defense was good even if you know that lots of the scores weren't their fault at all. amazing that the defense was actually better than the offense per play. (not taking a thing away from the offense, yards are what matters most, not how many plays it takes)
 
the defense is pretty good though - we should be pleased overall with them.
 
if you have the advantage in yards per play, move quick and get more plays. saturday was clearly a good argument for thinking that speeding up helps our offense much more than it hurts our defense. i think defensive depth and marcus sales make marrone so much more confident.
