Class of 2025 PF Francis Folefac (MD) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/27/26)

No, I do not think Sadiq White can shoot. I wouldn't feel comfortable with either taking a three in a late game situation.

Those are 2 different things.
"Can he shoot" doesn't mean "Do you want him to take the game winning shot".
But you're seemingly allergic to anything that isn't a put down these days.

I'd rather have a guy at the 4 who is likely to take a shot a game from 3, and be a threat to make it.
I think both Sadiq and Folefac will be good enough to do that.

Donnie Freeman took too many threes for his size.
I don't expect either of these guys to hang around the 3 point line all game long.

This is literally what I am saying. I would rather he sticks to good shot selection and makes the open shots.

I am disputing the portion of the board saying "He shoots 37.5%, he should take a lot more 3s".

I didn't say that at all. You've used up 2 strawmen so far in your last 2 posts.
Taking the last shot is not the same as "can he shoot".
And saying he should take a lot more 3s - well, you're the only one who has said that.

2-4 from 3. Last one was with about 10 minutes left.

I didn't quote your post and I wasn't referring to anything you posted. Relax fella

He also shot 63 and 67 percent. He's played 100 games now, and his career 3 point percentage is about 30%. We hope he has "leveled up", but what if he regresses to the mean?

Do you think we are done at point guard?
I’m all for a euro point guard. And I’m just saying if people if people wanna keep poking at the faults every player has then do it evenly for the rest of the ACC teams that have similar weaknesses.

Dual was brought in to have positional size and play D and play a balanced game. He was not brought in to be some sharpshooter.

How many years did gmac sit on staff watching our guys put up points with nice shooting %’s and lose because they played no defense, didn’t rebound and turned over the ball.

Dual is a good player. No argument.
Dual is great defense and a steady hand running the offense.

I would like to see one more guy, though.
We could use a guy who can make a 3 and get buckets, so it's not 4 on 5.

That only supports my point I think? Even the guys with elite traits struggle to get in. A guy who is average at everything is very unlikely to to b one that makes it. I understand your thoughts on “all around” play being important (it is) but the all around skill set needs to be at the very least above average to darn near top tier. Being okay, even at everything, doesn’t make you NBA player
Sure, not looking to make disagreement for no reason, haha. I think my point is the FF doesn't need to be elite at any one thing if he's really good all around. I can see a world where he's a solid shooter, a really good defender across multiple positions, can handle the ball, make good reads and pass well, and that gets him into the NBA with more success than the other guys mentioned. I actually like his chance at making the NBA as much or better than all of the guys you mentioned with the possible exception of Hughes. Swider and Boeheim just are such bad defenders, ball handlers, and athletes that the NBA was always a long shot. The bar to be a score first pg in the league is SO high, and Mintz just isn't the shooter or passer to make it. Hughes I thought had a legit shot as an athletic wing who could shoot the 3.

Dual has two excellent characteristics that make him valuable.

His defense is probably elite. Many reports suggest that it is. His Steal% is good and Block% is great for a guard and his DBPM of 2.5 is very good considering he was playing in a lower level conference. His DBPM of 3.65 (averaged) over two years in the Big East lends more credence to his excellent defense. Without watching a ton more video, I can't discern why his DRtg was 8th on his team last season. I'll cede the point that he is a great defender.

Dual doesn't turn it over. He has a great assist to turnover ratio, 2.75. His raw assist and turnover percentages are good for a lead guard, though not elite. For elite, look at Jeremy Fears for Michigan State last season, a 53% assist rate, with only a 15.5% turnover percentage. Both numbers are much better than Dual. But compared to George and the "throw it around gang" last season, Dual's ability to take care of the ball is really good.

I guess hoping for a guy who is an AA is too much to ask for... Fears is out of our ability to recruit and develop. Hopefully GMAC can change that in time.

Well said. I'm trying to get beyond just shooting %'s because in my opinion very few of the sharpshooters are going to meet expectations year over year. It's the less exciting %'s that seem to be what GMac is after.

I guess it's a crapshoot even with Assists. Safe to say we can go down the list of all metrics and say we've had busts pretty regularly. Bell 3 pt shooting went to crap, JJ well he was just JJ, George's assists didn't mean much when he started driving the ball into the corner with nowhere to go and all the unforced turnovers, even Kingz 3 point shooting was really brutal to watch early on.

Basically every time I feel like we lock in on a guy because he has a great offensive metric the year before it always backfires on us. It's really why I'm just sitting here being like screw the portal rankings and all the %'s, might as well go a different path fully under Gmac.

That would be great. And frankly, I would have been happy to keep Fennell. I think he had great size and lots of upside. Not so different, honestly, than MMM. Only an inch or two shorter. Both could bang in threes.
