Thank you for doing this each week.

See the run blocking comments above? It's why Allen only had 58 YDS and why we are very fortunate to have the best QB in the nation.
Allen also dances to the hole instead of running into it. It’s so frustrating to watch. If he would hit the hole, the blocking might get better grades. There were a couple times where he had a hole but was too slow to hit it while it was open.

I think some of the issues is that hole we see is not the hole he is supposed to be hitting..

But when you only see 3-4 holes a game hard to be real patient.

I’m not so sure this is the reason. He’s physically an incredibly gifted runner (and a fantastic receiver out of the backfield) but at the same time what I’ve noticed all year. He does stutter too much behind the line at times, there’s other times he completely misses the hole, he runs into defenders when he doesn’t need to. I think he just doesn’t have as good of vision and feel as other RB’s despite all his physical gifts.

This will be a hugely unpopular opinion, I’m sure. It’s also not meant as a knock on him, he’s an absolute warrior. But think he lacks some of the vision and feel other RB’s have. We can only say so many times the blocking sucks for him and I think that’s very true. But being at the game yesterday just confirmed what I feel like I’ve seen on TV. Just my opinion.

It looks to me like Allen has added a slight stutter step before he tries to pick the hole and accelerate forward. I don't remember him doing this in the past. Typically, I thought he took the handoff and went, regardless of what may or may not be in front of him. Seems like a change. Don't know if it's helping or not. We need bigger holes, obviously. And I still think we could run outside with a little bit of success now and then. I find it difficult to believe that Mang, or Villari, or even Gadsden couldn't seal an end now and then. Or maybe try putting an extra OL at TE once or twice.

After his first run he averaged 2.5 yards per carry despite not having been brought down behind the line of scrimmage. That is nearly impossible to pull off even against the 85 Bears with Ray Lewis added.

There was one run that Villari sealed and LQA ran inside of it for no gain.

Kid is a good WR and tough as can be. But

Spot on. This post encapsulates my thoughts on Lequint perfectly. He literally has won games for us with grit determination. But we have seen holes that he has missed and he does often dance a bit before hitting the line. Imagine this offense with Sean Tucker in the backfield. That said, better to have him than not.

It’s also possible he’s being overthinking things as a result of the new coaching staff. Not assigning blame to anyone, new bosses lead to overthinking as a result of changes even if that’s not the intent of the coaching staff. I see Willis running the same way as LQA, the more I think about this and I wonder if this is more related to coaching.

Agreed. I see a kid who’s slow to the hole and lacks vision (feel), there’s so many times he could’ve bounced outside for more yards. He’s a great football player, he’s just not a great RB. Its the same arguments on both sides that we saw for Donte Strickland.

You watch the Kansas kid run and they are the same RB type. but that kid has burst as well.
That kid is another level of dominant. He carried KU in a rout of Coach Prime (and it was a rout). Haven’t seen a performance like that in awhile. He could do whatever he wanted. Late in the 4th every rush seemed like a first down. Colorado gave up.
