Conferences usually let the individual institutions determine matters like alcohol sales.

SU officials have told me that beer will continue to be sold at the Dome when the school joins the ACC.

I believe the ACC is a dry conference. Will they still sell beer in the Dome once Syracuse joins the ACC?

As a guy that likes to tip a few at the games I am very happy.
As an avid supporter of the athletics department I am happy that we will keep the
revenue stream open. If they stopped selling beer, my tickets prices would probably go up another 50%.

Not tongue in cheek, I will bet that was a VERY important issue in the negotiations. SU makes a lot of money with the ability to sell beer.

Agreed. I wonder what percentage of food/beverage revenue comes from alcohol sales at the Dome? I'd be willing to wager it's a large chunk.

Cripes, I'm good for $500 a year easy in beer sales.

18 ish Basketball games + 6 football games + 2 ish lax games = 26 games x $20 ave. beer tab for me and anyone I buy for = $500 ish.

Wow. I'm not too happy I did that math.

ouch. That's about 6 kegs of really good beer.

SU Concessions / Carrier Dome make money on beer sales but the Athletic Department does not. At least that is how I understood it back when I worked there in school but I could be wrong.

That actually makes sense. For example, the food at the college I work for is handled by Aramark, meaning technically the employees don't work for the college, they work for Aramark. It makes sense it would be a fairly similar situation at SU if that's the case.

I know that is typically the way it's done but it never made sense to me. The concessions are a huge dollar amount. Why would the school not get a large chunk of it. They do own the Dome, so not sure why they would include a middle man..

So the profits go for Dome expenses, something the Athletic Dept would have to pay anyhow. They just don't get paid directly?

Even if SU doesn't receive beer profits, gotta think it helps increase the crowd noise just a bit

SU may not get direct profits but they must sell the right to be a vendor in the dome, no?

You are buying too many six packs... Kegs have gotten weighty if you want anything halfway decent.

The fact that anybody spends 6.00 on a crappy dome foam is beyond me. The only time I buy their beer is if I am wrecked going into a cupcake game.

Same boat, minus the lacrosse games..

thats why i go to club 44, where i can drink $6 beers , 2 hours before the game and 2 hours after the game. I am not going to worry about that math.

They have so many different beer options now in the dome you dont need to drink crappy beer. Hell right outside my section I can get a Saranac.

I was able to score some VIP passes for the last 10 games (the little private area behind the old curtain in the back court). Free beer every game. We get up there early and get our fill in.

I look at it as a donation.
