i don’t think there are incorrect answers to this question:

Is Fran Brown better at what he does in the present, where he can use his super power of recruiting twice a year (HS kids and the portal), but have to fend with NIL (and SU being let’s say below average) while doing it OR in the recent past, when he really only had to procure HS talent without the complications of NIL?

My answer: Thrilled to have Fran in any circumstance, but wish that he could’ve been here 5-6 years ago. My thought is that the purity/allure of DART is to some smaller degree mitigated by NIL.

I agree. I think Fran is is perfectly equipped to manage this new NIL world but man I can't imagine how great our recruiting would be if NIL wasn't a thing.

It was a cruel world before NIL, can’t believe how awful the athletes were treated in the past.
College athletics are in such a beautiful place now that we have NIL and free agency.

Was talking to an SEC football player and his mom today (family of one of my patients). It's not any less cruel in the NIL world, just a different version of cruel.

I would feel more confident in my answer if I knew what the short-term and long-term realities of the new system might be. It seems to change every day. Remember when you couldn’t “pay to play?” What was that? August? I have no idea what the rules are, or what they will be.

We would have been a 3x national champion by now.
