I will go to my grave believing that the call was bogus. You will never convince me otherwise, nor me you, so no sense in trying. It was a bad, game altering call in my mind, but **** happens. The important takeaway from the game, to me, is that Brian Kelly has built ND back into...well, ND. The Irish went toe to toe at FSU with the defending national champs. I think that ND can now play with, and have a great chance at beating, just about anyone in the country. ND under Davie, Willingham and Weis would have been blown out last Saturday in Tallahassee. Those ND teams in no way resembles this one. I think that the cries of "overrated" and "ND will get beat 43-10", while never completely silenced, are now muted. Brian Kelly had his team ready and was in complete control on the sidelines. I was especially impressed with his demeanor and play calling on the last drive. Golson is one hell of a player. Kelly has ND in the elite level and playoff discussion and has since the beginning of the 2012 season. If Golson was not suspended last year, do you think the Irish would have done better than 9-4? (Golson was suspended and Gunner Kiel had transferred, leaving cement shoed, noodle armed Tommy Rees as the only QB option). While difficult, I think that ND has a shot at running the table. Games at Arizona State and Southern Cal will be tough, as will the game against Louisville at home. Almost the entire team, including Golson (barring some other issues) will be back next season. I am having a lot of fun the past three season. I recall the dark days of DavieWillinghamWeis. I don't think ND will ever repeat those failed coachng hires again.
