By that point, the ACC will have a considerably bigger imprint in the Northeast than the Big East, which will be left with UConn, and possibly Rutgers and maybe Navy (the ACC will have BC, SU, Pitt and Maryland, with VT, UVa also relatively near by).
 
I think their ideal scenario is to get an agreement between the ACC and the Big East, creating scenarios where former rivals from the Northeast can face each other in bowl games with something extra on the line. The Big XII has not brought a lot of fans to the first 2 games and I don't think they are ever going to do so. This would be their best chance to get a big buzz about the game and to get sellouts.
 
The real question is, will the Pinstripe want the Big East anymore? If UL and RU leave for the Big XII, you can make a good argument that the Big XII would be better to have than the Big East, since it has bigger fan bases, travels better and would provide more interesting matchups than the Big East for the ACC. West Virginia, UL, RU in particular would be a lot more enticing for the Pinstripe than UConn and the Island of Misfit Toys.
