Out of respect to the poster who had an issue with labeling the program pathetic i have chosen pitiful.

The performance today was an exclamation point on the sad state of a once proud program.
Im not talking about the final score. 20 point losses happen. Its how they happen that matters.
Todays team was unprepared, showed a complete lack of motivation and effort and exhibited all of the signs of a team that is ok with losing.
I saw a coach who looked lost and a group of assistant coaches that were either afraid to be involved or clueless.
JB has no feel for this team.

I truly believe that we have much better talent than our results.
Give this roster to anyone of a dozen coaches and we would be playing better.
Jims stubborn actually narcissistic refusal to change, be it man to man D or a different second half starting line-up has lost whatever badge of honor he thought it possessed and has actually become a proof of his decline.
Green and Growing. Red and Rotten.
JBs coaching, his post game shtick, and his stubborn exterior driven by a fragile insecurity are going to ruin what he has built.
At this point SU basketball has become irrelevant. Hopefully Jim hangs em up before he does as well.

We have Been irrelevant for a few years now. This isn’t new

What I never forgive is when the team plays with no heart or fire. I didn't see anything in their eyes, body language, or performance that indicated they were determined to win today.
Along with that, I didn't see players try to rally their teammates to get the needed W for post-season.
Listless is the word that comes to mind.
All the who plays, X's and O's etc discussion is valid-
But that wasn't a team out there today. Made me wonder what's up regarding team mentality.

Honestly I just don’t think we’re recruiting athletes who can compete. Q is good. Griffin is good but the rest are project type players. I see much better athletes on teams like UB than us. We need to stop recruiting for the zone and start recruiting athletes and teach them the zone...like we used to. We have too many kids that look like Kate Moss.

Team effort is indicative of many things. Mostly coaching.

Yeah its the athleticism/physicality the eyeball test that is really startling
how many dunks and easy baskets did we see today?
slow in the backcourt (JG/BB) weak in the front court (Marek other centers who cant play)

Quincy got exposed, he was recruited as a 3, realized he wasnt great on the perimiter and his strength was in the paint and he adjusted to playing like a 4 but hes not a great leaper, nor has a great face up game with putting the ball on the floor

Today was the first time I thought JB should step down at the end of the year.

There are no leaders on the court or on the bench. The kids are all good guys but none of them seem to possess the trait of a bonefish leader. This roster needs some fire, some emotion, anything. It’s just not there and when things go poorly, it’s just “ho hum”.

On the bench, the HC rips certain players and covers for others, makes up some ridiculous excuses for why he does things and shows no real ability to lead these young men on the court to exceed their abilities. The talent isn’t great but the results shouldn’t be this poor and we shouldn’t be so uncompetitive against anybody good.

We aren’t even recruiting for the zone anymore it seems. JG would never be recruited here, we’d have length/quickness at guard, our forwards would be bigger and more athletic, we’d have a shot blocker, etc. Honestly, I don’t even know what our recruiting philosophy or plan is at this point.

The lack of size and length is one thing but the complete lack of athleticism being recruited is alarming. If QG is mentioned as our best athlete, then we are so far from the norm.

Boeheim said he didn't want to retire too early but he never thought about how you could retire too late.

Ayyyyyy, there he is! Took ya long enough. 5 hours. That may be a record.

Wildhack really needs to speak up about the direction the basketball program is heading ,I mean he is the AD. The program has been descending rapidly for the last 5 years and I really do not see much light at the end of the tunnel , It's to the point where we are not even competitive against average opponents maybe when things get back to normal and fans can get back to the games he will notice a big drop in attendance.

i predict that we may see a significant number of kids leave the program.

J
Bras
Woody
Edwards
Frank
Kadary

Not sure about the older guys but we could see Gumby, Q, Griff leave as well.

My two cents is Bras and J are gone.
Marek is gone.

If however kids are allowed to transfer and not have to sit out i could see kids like Woody Edwards Frank and Kadary being poached as each of these kids are players with good upsides and have to be frustrated.

I believe we are taking who we get. When was the last time we recruited a CJ Fair? I won’t even ask about a Carmelo or a Hak or a Forth for that matter?

People have the right to do what they want, but if it were me, I would've retired as soon as Jimmy graduated from high school. Not for any reasons regarding career but simply so I could see all of my kids play as much as possible.
