I'm sorry but the Michigan game was a freaking travesty.  We were down 2 before the Triche charge because of an atrocious block on MCW. 
Obviously Southerland & other guys could've played better as to not be in that position. 
"X and Y could've played better & been in a better position" is also something that can be said of every close game in the history of sports.  Duke could've played better defense & not needed a miracle Laettner play vs Kentucky.  UCLA could've played better vs Mizzou and not needed a length of the floor play.  The Patriots could've played better so they don't need the Tuck rule called.  Etc etc etc.

We needed zero lucky breaks to make the F4, which is rare for even the most dominant of teams.  The refs took away the opportunity of that 1 improbable thing most teams need to win a title.  They didn't take it away from Michigan when they were getting handled by Kansas; instead they got a memory of a lifetime.  Was there one person in the entire world that said "KU was better, Mich didn't play well enough"?  That's only ever said when there's a screwjob.
