Bringing my 16 year old son to the Pitt game. It will be his first visit to SU - as we've lived on the West coast for the past 6+ years. When we lived in NYC, I used to steal one weekend a year to back to SU (alone) even though the kids were still little. It won't be his first SU football game, however .. when he was 5 years old, I took him to the SU v Temple in Philly when Walter Washington ran around the end over and over again. For a while there, I was worried I had created a life long Owls fan as my son kept repeating 'Owls touchdown' on the long drive back up the NJ turnpike.

Anywhoo..

Very excited to be coming back to campus after being away so long, and also a bit verklempt about sharing the experience with my son. Hopefully I'll get a chance to reconnect with many of you... Bees, Tom, Mark, Go.. it has been too long.

So... where's the tailgate these days?

Is your daughter in HS yet? Still playing for SoCalBlues?

Calling TexanMark, Jeremycuse...

My daughter just made Santa Monica HS varsity as a frosh. She has played for Real SoCal for the past 3 years, but may be making a move soon...

We tailgate in the fine lot. Go to the additional content drop down menu and click on Texanmark's tailgate guide. On there is a campus map. We are setup down by the treeline. Look for the SU and 10th mountain division flag, and you will have found us.

Sorry. Wrong club.

My daughter's high school hosted Maria Carillo in September.

Congrats on making varsity as a frosh. That is tough to do.

My daughter has cut back on soccer. She plays for high school but also plays basketball and lacrosse for high school. So, club soccer has gone by the way side.

Soccer is her best sport, IMHO, but lax is now her favorite.

Good luck to your daughter. Any colleges that she is looking at? College recruiting starts so early these days. 8 D1 commits on the girls varsity soccer team and some were made as early as fall of sophomore year.

Thanks. She definitely wants to play soccer in college - so we shall see.

I used to go to Harvell's to hear some great live Blues when I lived out that way. Is that place still around?

Yea..still there. - 4th St. between Broadway and Santa Monica blvd. Area has changed a lot.. or so I hear. They just finished a commuter rail line that ends about a quarter mile from there (walking distance to the Pier) that links to downtown/Staples center. It's going to turn the promenade into a madhouse on the weekends - as if it wasn't already.
