Planning ahead--recommendations for hotels for Ped State game

Never hurts to plan in advance. I stayed across from the Meadowlands complex last year at the Sheraton. Nice place, but I wasn't too wild about how crowded the bar/restaurant was after the game. Also, I just as soon hop in the car after the game and head back east on I-80 for a couple of miles. Recommendations/experiences appreciated.
