(Note the #1 and #3 teams are in Section 8, which doesn’t participate in the state tournament. ) CLASS B Section 2- Glens Falls 12-0 (546-147) NYSSWA #2 MaxPreps 4/545 States: 5-2 with 0 titles Vs. Section 4- Chenango Forks 12-0 (464-99) NYSSWA #1 MaxPreps 2/234 States: 28-9 with 5 titles Comments: Is Chenango Forks invincible? Probably not. I would favor the Patriots, Alabama and probably North Dakota State. The question is: can anybody in New York State, specifically in Class B beat them? Maybe. Glens Falls looks pretty impressive. Maine Endwell lost last year after 62 straight wins and 4 straight state titles. Hornell lost in 2012 after 51 straight wins and three straight state titles. Chenango Forks won 38 in a row and two straight state titles until they got beat in 2005 by Rye, who had lost to them 0-48 in the finals the year before. Presently Forks has won three straight state titles, (all in Class C), and 22 games in a row, (they play Maine-Endwell). They could certainly lose, too. Or not. ( The #2 team is in Section 8.) Forks went down in MaxPreps state ratings from #1 to #2 but improved from #276 to #234 in their national rankings. Go figure. CLASS C Section 10-Ogdensburg Free Academy 10-2 (504-204) NYSSWA #2 MaxPreps 92/4173 States: 2-4 with 0 titles Vs. Section 4- Newark Valley 12-0 (518-97) NYSSWA #1 MaxPreps 17/1433 States: 2-0 with 0 title Comment: Ogdensburg has scored a lot of points against shallow competition. I think Newark Valley will prove to be much the better team. CLASS D Section 2- Cambridge 12-0 (662-87) NYSSWA #2 MaxPreps 59/3261 States: 17-12 with 1 title Vs. Section 6- Maple Grove 12-0 (509-86) NYSSWA #1 MaxPreps 13/1116 States: 9-5 with 2 titles Comment: Again, we have the two trains chugging toward each other, both with a strong pedigree as well. Cambridge has won by an average score of 55-7 and Maple Grove by an average of 42-7. Cambridge’s closest game was a 27 points win – and so was Maple Grove’s. I just hope the injuries Maple Grove sustained in the semi-finals won’t hold them back because this one looks like it could be fun. [/QUOTE]
