Comments: North Dakota State has won 20 straight FCS playoff games and 5 straight national championships, an unprecedented streak in the history of college football. Their last playoff loss was to Eastern Washington in 2010, 31-38. They’ve beaten the current #1 ranked team, Sam Houston State, three times in that stretch by a total of 69 points. They are basically the Alabama of FCS. Like the Tide, they often get beaten in the regular season but come back to win the title anyway. Alabama has had one undefeated national champion in their great stretch but only the 2009 champs ran the table. The Bison did so in 2013 but that was the only time in their ruin. One of my favorite stats is that Georgia So8tuhern played both the Bison and the Tide in 2011. They ran for 303 yards on Alabama but could only get 136 vs. NDS. The Bison have beaten an FBS team 6 times in a row, (Kansas, Minnesota, Colorado State, Kansas State, Iowa State, Iowa). Bama always schedules one FCS team a year…just sayin’…..

But all good things must come to an end. If anybody in FCS can beat the Bison, who would it be? This seems to be the best team of the many strong ones to come out of Sam Houston State but they’ve looked good before and then got trampled by the Bison. Jacksonville State looked real goo last year, crushing Sam Houston State 62-10, which got them a date with NDS- they lost 10-37. James Madison and Eastern Washington are former champs with impressive numbers and the Eagles gave the Bison a whale of a game earlier in the season. North Dakota would like a shot at them. Theya re former archrivals that got separated due to conference and division changes and haven’t played them since 2003. The Fighting Sioux became a DII power and won a title there and now they are back on the same level as the Bison and would like to hunt them again, just like the old days.

You’ll notice that these teams have a lot more losses than the NAIA, DII and DII teams. If you look at the losses you’ll see why: FCS teams got to make money by playing those infamous “guarantee” games against national powers. Also, there seems to be more int. Also, there seems to be more inter-sectional play at this level with the top teams playing each other more often.
