Comments: The first round begins this weekend. Looking at these match-ups you can see that FCS teams don’t have the glamorous records you see in Divisions 2 and 3. Most of these teams have 2,3 even 4 losses. But look who they lost two. They love to play “guarantee” games against FBS teams to help fund their athletic budgets. These teams, at this level, are almost all better than their records. But the presence of Western Illinois, 6-5 and out-scored by 59 points, also indicates that it’s too small a division. FBS has a bunch of teams that used to be FCS teams , (including ex-champions Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Boise State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Louisiana Tech, Massachusetts, Memphis State, Northern Illinois, Ohio University, San Diego State, Southern Mississippi, Troy State and Western Kentucky), that probably should still be. That’s why I’d like to see FCS combined with the non-power conference teams from FBS into a true Division 2 while the current Divisions 2 and 3 and the NAIA should become a new Division 3. [/QUOTE]
