THE FINALS
While SU was being blown out on the road, the Carrier Dome played host to five blow-outs in the sectional finals. The question is: does that mean we’ve got five really strong champions or that there wasn’t much competition in the section this year?
CLASS AA
Liverpool gained revenge for its only regular season defeat by dominating CBA in the second half of what had been a defensive duel to win going away 35-9. Jaydakis Scott rushed for 228 yards and scored four second half touchdowns. Four CBA turnovers fueled the fire.

Matt Parkinson scored two pick 6’s, on from 90 yards out and the Warrior’s defense held 240 Jeremy Perry to 78 yards on 17 carries, (he’s come in with more than 1800 yards rushing and 35TDs), as Whitesboro topped East Syracuse-Minoa 30-12:

CLASS B
Cazenovia has no trouble beating Vernon-Verona-Sherrill for the second time this year, 42-6. They’ve had no trouble with anybody all season. But trouble may be ahead as quarterback T. J. Connellan hyper-extended his left knee and had to be carried off the field, although he was able to get up and walk under his own power. The Lakers are our best chance for a state title, which they have never won, (or even played for) and which Section III has never won in this classification. The competion will be stiff but some intimidating names are not in this playoff this year: Maine Endwell, winners of four straight state titles and 61 straight games, moved back up to Class A. Schalmont, who terrorized the eastern half of the bracket before losing to Maine-Endwell in the finals the last two years lost in their Sectional tourney. And Chenango Forks, the nemesis of Section III teams since the state tournament started, is stuck in Class C due to a decline in enrollment. But the Lakers, who have an all-time record of 1-7 in the state playoffs, will have to be at their best and that will be hard to do without Connelan.

Jerome Brabham passed for three touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown in leading Utica Notre Dame to 55 unanswered points in a wild 69-32 victory over Canastota:

Sandy Creek pulled away from a 12-12 halftime tie to beat West Canada Valley 32-12, the last touchdown coming on a weird play in which WCV blocked a punt but an attempt to field it was ruled a fumble, which was then returned for a Sandy Creek touchdown:
