This team through five games essentially has two more games of plays compared to last year

Game reps over the course of time will lead to better development and playing opportunities for potential recruits which will lead to recruiting better depth.

We have basically run 7.25 games from last year through 5 games.

2015 had 751 total plays and 1880 passing yards for the season.

2016 is at 1850 pass yards not quite at the halfway mark.

Things will get better. Patience is needed.

Given our record, plays per game seems to be an overrated stat.

Let's face it, the only stat that really matters is points per game (scored and allowed). #meatheadfootball

We are ahead in that category too

If you want to go to a bowl for more reps, same logic applies here

Points per possession (a useful stat) is worse than last year on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. The offense is failing to hold up their end of the bargain also. This isn't just a defensive issue it's a team issue in all 3 phases.

You know what stats are really important? Everything ET is doing. That's proof that something different and special is starting to happen in our program.

The point is that the team is getting in more reps than they ever have ... This in turn will speed up the learning curve and the process.

Getting a bowl and extra practices would be awesome, but at a minimum the team is getting in the reps needed for improvement in the years to come

I wonder if this style of ultra fast practice also serves as injury insurance.

PPP is going to suck for us because we give up scores in short drives and we are playing a game with higher possessions per game. Our offense is better this year by far.
Last year we had played Rhode Island, Wake Forest, Central Michigan, South Florida, LSU.
This year we have played Colgate, Louisville, South Florida, UConn, Notre Dame.

Our schedule was a lot tougher this year. The offense is stalling in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but if people can't see with their eyes our offense is better than last year they are just Shafer people who want to complain.

Overtime short fields would help points per possession. So would a kicker. If you want to judge the offense, look at yards per play . We're better and still have a long way to go and will get there

I think it will also help that the staff will have a season worth of game tape to work with the players on. should be a big difference for a lot of players.
